Urban Haas is a storage and server architect at a large value added reseller (VAR) in the USA. Having been in the industry since 1986, his career has included software development, data center management, system integration, consulting and sales solution development. For several years he ran his own company Urban Technology offering storage, supercomputer, UNIX server and network consulting and integration services.
His official title is Solution Architect. As an outside the box thinker, he creates unique technology solutions to solve difficult business problems taking advantage of datacenter convergence to reduce cost while pushing the envelope with resiliency taking availability to the next level. He has a passion to engineer every solution appropriately making sure they are sized right from storage to compute to networking. He strives to remove complexity and cost keeping capital expenses (CapEx) and operating expenses (OpEx) in line.
Urban lives on a hobby farm in Minnesota outside of Minneapolis. He plays guitar, rides horses, blogs, is involved with non-profit causes and travels around the globe.
